One of our top priorities of Family Dentistry is to protect the well-being of our valued patients. For this reason, infection control at Family Dentistry is very important to us. To protect our patients and ourselves, we strictly maintain sterilization and cross contamination processes using CDC (Center for Disease Control) and OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards.
Our self-contained dental water units utilize distilled water. This removes any chances of contamination from outside water lines, and also prevents exposure to any chemicals, salts, etc., that may be present in local tap water.
Family Dentistry is in compliance with TCEQ (Texas Commission on Environmental Quality), and our prevention device is tested annually as required by the City of College Station, Ordinance 2394, Cross Connection Control and Backflow Prevention.
The dental x-ray equipment at Family Dentistry undergoes bi-annual testing as well as equipment performance evaluations for calibration every 4 years in accordance with Texas Administrative Code (TAC) 289.232 (i)(7). All of our x-ray equipment is confirmed as being in compliance by the Policy, Standards, and Quality Assurance Group of the Texas Department of State Health Services.
Safety equipment at Family Dentistry includes a device to handle amalgam waste in an environmentally responsible manner. This helps to protect both the environment and public health from the release of mercury into municipal sewage systems.
